Hello All,

We’re at a crux with our legal action.  Long story short, lawsuits challenging a land use action must be filed within 21 days of the land use decision.  The council vote was on 9/22, so that give us until 10/13 to file a lawsuit.  This caught be by surprise - I thought we had more time.  For details about the lawsuit that we are contemplating, please see our
legal page.

While the total cost of the lawsuit might be substantial, it will probably only cost $5000-$10,000 for the first stage.  We need to know by Wednesday whether there's enough support to get this suit started.  If we can't raise over $5000 by Wednesday evening, we’ll be forced to tell our attorney to drop the case.  Please let us know whether, and how much, you can contribute.  Any contribution you make will be used only for attorney's fees.   You can make checks payable to MNPC, and you can mail them to MNPC, Box 271, 3213 W Wheeler, Seattle, 98199.  Please shoot me an email if you mail a check so I’ll know where we stand.

A big “thank you” to those of you who have already contributed.  If we fail to raise $5000 by Wed evening, we will return your checks to you.  We’ve raised $2700 so far (not counting money already spent).

Best

Dear ______________________,

I am requesting that the City of Seattle honor the Discovery Park Master Plan, which was adopted by City leaders in 1972, 1974, and 1986 and has been ratified in many City ordinances, resolutions, and other City created master plans since.  I also am requesting that the City resign as the Local Reuse Authority (LRA), and demand that the BRAC process be restarted with a new LRA established that is composed of local community groups, stakeholders, and a nominal number of City of Seattle representatives.

I do not support building housing on this site.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration of my requests.

Thank you for your support!
